Saturday 25th January - Picton to Havelock

Just completed our first full day of cycling on the South Island in glorious weather.

We cycled the 24 miles to Havelock along the coast road, Queen Charlottes Drive, and stopped about every 2 miles for photos, it was that good.
We even managed a lovely picnic by the waters edge and a refreshing milkshake at a cafe before completing our cycling for the day.  Havelock is a small place and is famous for greenshell mussels, I plan to have some later tonight at the cafe/bar in the Main Street.

The forecast for tomorrow looks really grim. See below! But at least it stops at five in the afternoon. It looks like a wet day ahead

  1. Are you heading through the Buller gorge to west port? Or up to Golden bay? It's a nice route. Havelock to Nelson a bit challenging but then Ewert went the other way!
